Finally Damien Hirst got into the kandouras* of the Qataris! It was about time. In a perverse way, this was an artistic and evolutionary imperative. There is a school of thought maintaining that Hirst’s main point is to mock the smugness and vanity of the world of his very patrons – to which, conveniently and ironically, now he belongs himself. Looking at his well directed PR shots I am more and more inclined to support this view. The man is a genius!
* kandoura is the white robe worn by Arab men in the Gulf countries.
